Wednesday

Image
This long week I watched a tv series called  Wednesday.  The director of these episodes was Tim Burton. Tim Burton has created a lot of movies that were a part of my childhood, and I knew the tv series was going to be about Addams Family. In watching the tv series, some of the scenes that I thought was interesting was the direction of Wednesday Addam. At the beginning of the tv series, she was cold and not very open to anyone at her new school. But, over time, you can see throughout the tv series she was opening up toward the other characters. One thing I noticed from the show was that there was no halt in the action. Each episode of the series builds upon the last episode.  One scene from the tv series that I thought was cool to watch Wednesday Addams is playing her cello on top of the roof. This scene happens in the first episode of the series. I loved how she was not playing a contemporary piece but a rock song. It shows how the Addams Family is not your typical...

The Truman Show

Image
This weekend I watched the movie  The Truman Show . The movie is about what if we filmed a person 24/7 since birth. I watched it once when I was in like 7th grade because I want to say we were learning about narratives. But I recently rewatched it since it's been a long time, and I noticed a lot more than before. I think the director of the moving did an amazing job of framing the camera to focus on the main character Truman played by Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey, in almost every film, plays the goofball kind of guy. This film is a goofball movie at certain points within the film. But Once it gets serious, Jim Carrey protays emotions very well.   One of the examples I thought the director of the movie did a clear job of portraying was the idea that there are product placements throughout the movie. A couple of examples are shown above within the clip. I kept looking for them throughout the film. It kept my attention longer just trying to find everything. With this movie,...

All Quiet on the Western Front

Image
This week I watched the movie  All Quiet on the Western Front . The film is from a book that tries to retell what happened during World War One through German soldiers. The movie was originally in German but they translated it to English. Personally I watched the movie in German with Subtitles. I feel like movies that are usually dub try to make the Germans sound more angry in their speech versus what they truly sound like speaking their native language. I thought that the director Edward Berger did a good job portraying the ending of World War One. I thought the director showed the battles very accurately. As a history major, it makes me upset when movies do not depict historical events correctly. But from watching the movie, I thought the director did a fantastic job portraying what was happening during the events of the film.  This Part of the movie is very graphic so be warned  This movie is very graphic but depicts true events that happened. One of the scenes that gr...

Wendell and Wild Reaction

Image
When I first started to watch the new movie  Wendell and Wild . I thought the film was going to be different from most animations. I was correct about the film. The film covers more deep concepts for an average kids' movie. Henry Selick, the director of the film, has directed many other animated films such as  Nightmare Before Christmas  and  Coraline.  These two movies are my favorite personally to watch around Halloween and Christmas. The motive of the movie was very straightforward. When watching the movie for the first time, I thought it was different from Selick's other films. For example, Selick's film had a deeper tone than what was on the screen. It was nice to see Jordan Peele and Keegan-Micheal Key come back and play characters in the film. I thought they did a wonderful job playing the tricky demons throughout the film. They were playing off of each other's emotions when making the film. You can tell their personalities were coming out through ...
