Rear window

We watched the movie Rear Window in class this week. This movie was about a person who was stuck in a wheelchair but was able to look into other people's apartments as a viewpoint into their lives. I thought it was interesting for the main character to be in a wheelchair it allows the audience to see life through the eyes of the main character as he has to look out of the window. The director of this film allows the audience to interpret many different ideas throughout the film. As a person viewing the movie for the first time, you can see how each window shows something different. I think it's cool to see how as a viewer, you don't see everything for the first time in the film until you watch it again.

I thought the way the director was able to use the camera to create unique shots. One of the shots I thought was interesting was the last couple of minutes of the film. It shows the lives of everyone after the murder was caught and brought to jail. The camera sweeps between each of the windows of the apartments and how each person's life has changed. I thought it allows a person to see through their own eyes versus hearing what the main character has to say. It allows the individual to interpret the scene versus the main character.

Overall I thought that the director of this movie did a good job and innovations and techniques throughout the film. I liked how shots of the movie were not just about the main characters. But it allowed individuals to interpret scenes of the film. I thought the usage of CGI was really cool to see. It shows that the director was trying new techniques for the movie. Like the flashing light that would happen when the main character was trying to defend himself. I thought it was goofy the way the main character fell out of the window. But you can tell that it was early CGI. So it makes sense.
